Episode 6: COMPANIONSHIP

Veronica Compton, 19 years old. She would soon meet Kenneth Bianchi, the Hillside Strangler.

Welcome back, fellow sleuths, to another episode of Killer Love Hack’s intrigue and mystery. I’m your host, Joy Krause, digging deep into the perplexing human heart. Today, we're unearthing the story of Veronica Compton, a young woman who, back in 1980 at just 24, fell under the dark allure of one of the most notorious serial killers in US history, Kenneth Bianchi, also known as the Hillside Strangler.

While Veronica was working on a crime-related screenplay, she wanted a bit of real-life inspiration—enter Bianchi. What started as a quest for information, spiraled into a liaison that would drag her into a chilling chapter of her life.

I’ve spent over a decade trying to understand why any woman would seek a relationship with a monster like The Hillside Strangler. What I’ve learned is - there is no one type of woman or one type of reason.

It could be a belief in his innocence or the possibility of his redemption or just as easily - their psychic said he was their soulmate.

The articles I read about Veronica Compton were pretty brutal – most headlines referred to her as some version of bat shit crazy.

Veronica wasn’t crazy. She was an aspiring writer, a bit naïve, incredibly lonely, and simply looking for a mentor. Her decision to befriend Kenneth Bianchi took away her freedom for the next 23 years.

In this episode, titled 'Companionship,' we’ll discuss loneliness – how much can hurt – and ways to shake off those ‘lonely blues’.  So, grab your magnifying glass and notepad, and let's crack this case wide open. It's a journey you won't want to miss.
